The Gower Tea Rooms ~ Part 1

Hywel and I have been working on a new project over the last couple of months and I thought it may be nice to show the photos here in blog land. I am guilty these days of just uploading my work onto our face book page, but I have neglected my Blog land friends for too long, so I am back! I hope you will enjoy the making of 'The Gower Tea Rooms'.

We used a DHE kit for the main tea rooms, but changed the base to make it suit our own idea.

Hywel then used Art Mache to cover the exterior walls of the tea rooms and clay to make the roof tiles and surrounding walls.

I then got my favourite job of painting it all :)

Whilst Hywel made some ceiling beams!

This is how it looked with painting done and before I did all the garden work!

Once all this was done, I started on the garden. I began by adding greenery growing through the cracks in the walls.

Then it was time to lay some miniature grass and some miniature gravel paths.

With the Gower Tea Rooms starting to come together, it time for Hywel to make the furniture to go inside, whilst I got the lovely job of adding net curtains and cups of tea. But that's another post for another time :)

New Witchy Shelves and a huge table!!!

I'm spending the day cleaning today, or at least trying too!  Hubby has so many projects on the go at the moment, that they are spilling out of the garage into the house (the garage is attached to the house)  There is a Cobbler shop in the kitchen waiting for the art mache to dry, the Christmas Cottage has completely taken over the dining room and there are clamps holding shop counters and pieces of furniture all over the coffee table and stool!!! How am I supposed to clean?? Men!!

Anyway, whilst attempting to move things to clean around, I took some pictures :)

Hubby is making a wonderful Christmas Ivy Cottage and inside there will be a very long table and shh, here's a sneaky peek....

Don't look at the dust on my table lol

He has carved out the notched edges and made 2 benches for little people to sit on :)

It even has a corner where there are notches worn out of the wood after years of........ toy making! This large table is going to be the toy makers table in the Christmas Cottage. I can't wait to start to making teddy bear arms and legs to go on it!!

Hubby has also made a similar wooden, smaller shelf unit this week and I have filled it with my leather backed books, scrolls, Bone Dust in glass jars, a silver ink pot and feather quill and some witchy letters. It is currently for sale on my website

Now back to the cleaning and that Dust!!!

So where's the 'Bear' in Bearcabinminiatures???

Its been a long time since I have made some little bears, which is a shame because at one time I used to make loads! I even made 150 little Edwardian bears for my friends 'favours' in her wedding. Then, when I opened my Etsy store... long before blogs and websites, I was making so many bears at that time and hubby was making a 12th scale Cabin, hence the name Bearcabinminiatures was born :) So here we are today, we have a Bearcabinminiatures blog, Etsy store, Ebay page, facebook page and as of yesterday, we now have a webpage :0)

Now, there's been alot going on behind the scenes at the moment and hubby is busy building a special 'Christmas Ivy Cottage' It has turned into a huge project as he has got very carried away with it and has made furniture for this one. I can't show you any pics yet, but I can tell you that it will be a little cottage for Santa where there is lots of bear making going on :) Guess who has to make the bears!!!!!

So last night I sat down and made some little Chenille stemmed bears... ok, I admit, it's nice to be bear making again :)

I have also been finishing off my Christmas furniture and cushions. I am really happy with my new designs...

and my older designs with a christmas twist...

All my christmas themed miniatures will be available through my website only, for the next week, but I will be back tomorrow to explain how I have compartmentalised all the different Bearcabinminiature places :)

Till tomorrow,

Julia xxxx
