Miniatura Dolls House Fair

Spring and Autumn holds two important dates in the Bear Cabin Miniatures calendar, as it is twice yearly that the Hopwoods hold their Miniatura Dolls House Fair at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. We love this fair and have been visiting for years, but this year in the spring, we began exhibiting there. To us, this is a dream come true and a sign that we have 'made it' in following those dreams. The whole weekend is spent merrily chatting to customers old and new and seeing friends in the miniatures community that we have known on and offline for many years now.

This autumn, we decided to theme our display with Pumpkins... well, any long term follower of my blog, will know that the autumn, pumpkins and wizard fantasy miniatures are my all time favourites.

So, Hywel began by making a new display stand for our 4 foot table!

Here it is at home having a lighting trial run!

At Miniatura, Hywel set up the table and display and out came all the pumpkins!

and scroll cupboards...

In fact, once again, our table bursting at the seams, but thankfully not for long :)

A great weekend was had by all and there was plenty of laughter and fun in amongst all the business of buying and selling miniatures.

So, it is a big thank you to everyone who popped by to say hello and to all our customers, new and old, it was lovely to catch up again.

Now we look forward to the spring and after Christmas will begin to plan the theme for the spring Miniatura which will be held on the 29th and 30th march 2014.

Bear Cabin Miniatures at Miniatura Dolls House Show

Last weekend, Hywel and I travelled through the snow up to the NEC in Birmingham for the
60th Miniatura International Dolls House Show.

We have visited the show for the last ten years, but this time was extra special. Not only was it the 60th show for Miniatura, but it was our first as exhibitors.... and we had a ball!

With hindsight, our table wasn't shown off to the best that it could of been, but we did learn valuable lessons from our new friends Jeff and Glenys next door to us and we also began dreaming up plans for future displays with valuable advice from Bea. We also met up and chatted with many peeps from AIM, Blogland and FB which was absolutely lovely.

This is how the centre of our table looked with Hywel's handmade cupboards and my scroll and book shelves.

We also had bar tables and pumpkins for sale at our table.

Alongside dragon eggs and wizard tables.

Now we are home and the weekend is over, but we can look forward to planning for the next Miniatura this Autumn and more fun! :)
