Do you want to try basket weaving In miniature?

Any body ever fancied having a go at miniature basket weaving? Or, you can't get any miniature cane? I have a load of 1 mm wide basket weaving cane, more than I will ever use myself! So, I have listed some on Ebay this morning, click on my ebay link in my righthand sidebar to view. Basket weaving is easier to do than it looks, once you have had a couple of trial runs!! The secret is to soak the cane for 45 - 60 minutues before starting and wet your fingers whilst weaving if it starts to dry out. I also always put a barrier of hand cream on before I start.  In the photo is a basket and pot I made a while back. The baskets can be left natural, stained, painted or aged by rubbing a wet teabag over them.

If you get stuck, let me know and I will try to help, but I'm sure once you get going, there will be little baskets everywhere lol.

  5. Did you sell all the 1mm cane? I only found your post when I was looking for some today and the auction seems to have ended on ebay.
