Miniatura Report ~ Part 1

A little show report on Miniatura, we had a long, but lovely day :0)
The show, this year was in a different hall, 'Pavillion,'  which was miles away from the car park, so much so, that after walking to the show, we decided that at the end of the day, we would get the shuttle bus back to the carpark! The hall itself seemed smaller and of course, my usual sellers who I buy bits and pieces for my mini makes from were scattered all around and were difficult to find. There seemed to be alot of complaints on the hall, from sellers and buyers alike, which is a shame. But, we bought some lovely minis and we finally met and had a chat with Julie of http://www.bellabelledolls.blogspot.com/ whose table was beautifuly laid out and her dolls as always are amazing. It was lovely to meet her and see her dolls from her blog 'in the flesh' so to speak. We also met Jain from http://www.giddykipperdolls.blogspot.com/ whose table was next to Julies. On Jain's table was a little someone who just jumped out at me from in amongst all her fellow companions, so Hywel snapped her up as my birthday present, more to follow on my birthday presents tomorrow!

So, back to my 'buys'....
Hywel bought a telescope for the wizard's den at the top of the bookstore. It was made by Mike from Kastle Kelm Miniatures, http://www.kastlekelm.webs.com/ I also bought a little glass jar of worms from them.

Here is a great wizard book and pot of mushrooms, but I didn't get the sellers name on these. The lock is from Sussex Crafts, http://www.sussexcrafts.com/ and looks old and worn, so it will be perfect for Mandrake House.
From Jain (Giddy Kipper Dolls) I bought this wonderful Goblin... he needs a name... any ideas? He will be perfect for standing behind the counter in The Wizard and Wands Bookstore. He just has that  Hum.. and what can I do for you?! look about him ;0)

Well, thats all I have to show you at the moment. I did get some lovely supplies....new materials, braids and plant supplies, so watch this space for new minis for Etsy in the future and I will put a post on tomorrow with my birthday buys, look out, there will be another new project on the horizon!! :0)

If anyone is going to Miniatura today, pop over to Julie and Jain's stalls, they are tables No 9 and 10, as you walk in they are on the left hand side of the hall, about 1/2 way down. Their dolls are wonderful and they are lovely ladies who I was delighted to meet :0)

  18. I was disappointed in the hall as well. I found it difficult to get my bearings if I turned away for a while! I did pass Julie's stand and would have said hello but there were quite a few people there and she looked terribly busy and as I'd already met and chatted to her recently, I passed on by. Did you feel there were fewer stallholders there or is that usual for a March fair as opposed to an October one? Some interesting bits too - isn't it fun putting them all away?

  19. Hi Irene,
Yes, we were dissapointed in the hall too, but it is my understanding that the NEC themselves allocate the hall and not the Miniatura organisers, so I think we may have lost out because of the other big shows on there that weekend. We couldn't get our bearings either and missed meeting a few people we would of liked to meet. I also found that some of our regular 'haunts' either weren't there or had smaller tables this year and not so much stock. Still, we enjoyed and yes, it's lovely sorting it all out when you get home. Lets hope the Autumn Miniatura is back in 'our' hall and bigger :0)
