Holidays ~ Ironbridge Blists Hill Museum

Yes, more pics from our hols, please let me know if your getting bored!!

This is the fabulous bridge in Ironbridge and our favourite place in the whole world to be. We have visited Ironbridge many times now over the years and never tire of it. Maybe one day, we will get lucky and have enough money to buy a house there... now where are those lottery numbers?!!

Ironbridge has 5 Museums and one of those is the Blists Hill Museum. It has just undergone a 12 million upgrade and they have added new houses and a whole new street. If anyone watches the Victorian Pharmacy on BBC2, it is filmed in Blists Hill.

So pictures.... it was difficult to get pics without people in, so bear with me if I have chopped a corner off a building, I didn't want anyone chasing me for using their facial image without approval!
This is the famous chemist...

The Cobblers

Looking down the road towards the Bakers shop... lovely fresh bread sold here, it smelt delicious and my tribe said it tasted wonderful :0)

The Squatters Cottage, this was small inside and was home for 10 people.. what a squash!

And... one of my favourites.... the Drapers.

I loved the inside of the Drapers and it has inspired me. I have an empty miniature shop which I had intended to make into a post office cum general store. I also have a few of  Kat's lovely Edwardian hats which I have collected over the years because I loved them but alas they had no permanent home to call their own and I have recently done a swap with her for two more. So.... when I saw this........

.... you can imagine the flash of inspiration which popped in my head ;0)

The lady in the shop was lovely and I explained how hubby and I made things in miniature and she let me take loads of pics to use for reference.....

Isn't it lovely? :0) This will be my little project for over the winter months, dressing my shop like this, I hope it will inspire some of you too :0)

Have a great day,

Holidays Part 2 ~ Chirk Castle

On day 3 of our hols, we visited Chirk Castle, a National Trust Property.
We took heaps of photos because it was so inspiring with its old mullion windows, wonderful fireplaces and wickedly curving stone steps. We instantly thought of  Michelle who is currently making an amazing Hogwarts and who's attention to detail is perfect. I hope you will love these photos, Michelle ;)

Dean dressed up as a medieval kayos Knight

One of the wonderful fireplaces.

I loved the way the ceiling had aged here

The markings on this wall are 100's of years old, made by soilders sharpening their arrowheads on the wall!

The main entrance in, this is the 'Killing Gate' where attackers would get through the first set of doors only to find that they were trapped in a small room where they were attacked by arrows and  hot oil from above! EEk!!
The clock tower in the court yard.

And finally, a very tired looking Meg and Me!! Dressed up as medieval ladies, the dresses were hugely baggy and scratchy!

Chirk castle part 2 tomorrow - The library and the gardens.
