Tilly's Tapestries & Turnings

A while back, in 2011, I said that 2012 would bring 3 new mini projects for me!

Well, here is one of them... Tillys Tapestries & Turnings Shop!

I was lucky to get this lovely little shop on Ebay, it was a bargain and I loved the window shape. When it arrived, the lovely seller had popped a matching shelf unit in the parcel :0)

This lovely little shop sat on my dresser until recently, when I had the urge to set to work on transforming this shop into Tillys Tapestries & Turnings!

It is meant to be a fancy little shop, selling handstitched Tapestries and pretty wood turnings.

I began the 'makeover' by adding a layer of Artmache to the exterior of the building and then painting it in a green acrylic paint. Once dry, I dabbed a darker green over the sides of the building to create an older look.

Then I painted a biscuit 'wash' over the window and door, wiping it all over to create a rough, worn look before it dried.

Inside the shop, I went out of my comfort zone a little and wallpapered in a dark stripe paper!
I then added a little ornate fireplace and laid a dark grey flagstone floor.

A little lace runner and a spiderplant on the windowsill has added a little charm to this project. Now, I just have to get stitching all those tapestries to fill that large shelf unit :0)
