Up the crooked steps

Whilst I have a little spare time, I have been playing around with the Tudor House and doing a spot of dusting on the steps.

The wooden beams have had a little polish and the house now proudly displays its name plaque: Toad Hall.

This house will be inhabited by a fantasy wizard family,
(by Joy of Adora Bella Minis) and furnished with hubby Hywel's handmade rustic furniture.

In the kitchen, I have been trying out a small range cooker for size and my lovely pumpkin table from Jenny of KastleKelm

I won't have time to do much more on this until after our house move now, but when I do get time, I plan to repair the base and turn the visibly damaged area into a little crooked stream :)

Toad Hall

A few weeks ago, a friend decided to sell one of her Tudor Houses. It is very tall, but does not take up much floor place, which is ideal for me, as I had limited space for more houses.

It had a little damage to one side of the base which had been done when she had bought it, but with a little tlc and Hywel's help it could soon be looking like new.

The house has three rooms and a bottom cellar type area.

Besides the cellar, there are stairs up to the first floor, which has an opening for a fireplace and wooden stairs up to the second floor.

The second floor will be a little kitchen. There is slight damage here to the fireplace wall, but this will easily repaired also.

The third floor is a nice, larger open area which will become a study.

Finally, the fourth floor is an attic bedroom with wall beams

The whole house looks artisan handmade and the attention to detail is evident. If anyone recognises this house and/or knows who made it, I would love to know :) All the windows have leaded 'glass'  the roof has handmade tiles and carved fascias and the floors are wooden floorboards.

I am going to enjoy working on this and I have plenty of ideas for new miniatures to compliment it, but first, I have my 'real' house to concentrate on, as in March we upping sticks yet again and moving house... :)

Happy New Year 2015

Goodbye 2014 and welcome 2015!

For us, 2014 was a year that I wouldn't wish to repeat. It was filled with sadness and loss, with very little happy times in between. But with a new year, comes a fresh start and hopefully 2015 will be a journey back to happier times :)

On the miniature front, I will be working on my Sid Cooke houses which have been sorely neglected.

My haberdashery (the smaller shop below) needs curtains and some shelf fillers, whilst the turn of the century Grocers (the larger kit) needs a full revamp upstairs!

In between working on these shops, I am also trying to finish a beautiful carpet from a Janet Granger kit

Whilst Hywel is busy making new miniatures for the Miniatura International Dolls House Show in March. So with plans afoot, we head into a better 2015 and we wish all our friends and followers a Happy New Year, filled with health, happiness and good 'mini' times :)
