A new Year... A New Look Blog???

A New Year....

Well, 2010 is nearly over and I see here in blog land and on FB, people's thoughts are turning to 2011 and their miniature plans.  At Bearcabinminiatures, 2011 will see changes to the way we exhibit our work, moving our General For Sale items away from this blog and onto our OOAK Bearcabinminiatures blog and into UK based Dollhouse Fairs... details to follow!! So, this blog will share snippets of my own personal collection of 12th Scale Miniatures and new techniques I am trying out for my projects... prepare to be in fits of giggles at my pathetic attempts at sweets and join me in an attempt to create better books for the Wizards and Wands Bookstore!! I also have plans for a couple more projects over 2011 :0)

I will also use this blog to showcase any commission cottages under construction and the first will begin in the next few days with the start of a Witches Cottage.

A New Look Blog....

As you can see, I have been busy tonight, re-designing my blog!! What do you think? Is it too dark, too dull? Is the orange too bright? Or is Okay? I just have to write the posts on a white page, it's you, my wonderful followers who choose to look at and read my ramblings, so it's important to me that the page is comfortable for you read.. so any suggestions welcomed ;) Which leads me onto my final ramble.... awards are wonderful, thankyou to everyone who has forwarded them onto me, I do appreciate them, but unfortunately what with being unwell and just with trying to keep up with everything, I find I do not have time to keep up with rewards... so please excuse me when I graciously request that you send me no more awards... your comments, emails and friendship are reward enough.

Well, that's me finished waffling on tonight.. back in a couple of days :)

I need one to finish of what started to be a room box but it so needs a window in the front, not sure I can build one though, Im not a great builder

  7. Happy New Year to you too Deni :0) We had a lovely christmas thank you, I hope you did too. The window is part of our sweet shop, made up from a Sid Cooke Kit and I don't think you can buy them singly. You can get really nice georgian pane bow windows on Ebay though and they are wooden, so easy to paint or stain. The Sid Cooke windows are always plastic and difficult to get a nice paint effect on.

  9. I like the new look! It sounds like 2011 will be very busy for you Julia! Did you already tell me about the witch's cottage? ;o)

My windows on Highgate where plastic, but not for the conservatory. I didn't know they were plastic on the smaller kits...but they are the best shape I've seen (compared to the loose ones you can buy).

Wishing you a VERY happy and healthy New Year!

  10. Thanks Debbie, I think 2011 is going to be good :0) Poor Matilda, she certantly does pop out of the black background LOL

    Hi Michelle,
No, I didn't mention the witches cottage, it is a commission that Hywel is doing, very little input from me on the building.

I agree the Sid cooke round windows are the best shape, it's just a shame they are plastic. I don't think Sid Cooke do any house windows in wood? I have only seen plastic when looking at their houses in fairs. I have made up a Cotswold and 2 smaller shops and they are all plastic and I am sure the Empire Store is still plastic too.

Hope you are a great family time and have a wonderful New Year :0) xxx
