My little Maysage and Birch shop is raised up next to Wizards and Wands. Underneath, hubby is going to do a little bank, but that is his project, so I'm to stay away from it LOL But I thought I would show you some pics of the steps up to my little shop that hubby has made involving art mache, wood, card and a lot of swearing!!!! From him, may I add !!
Bear in mind, he never waits for me to take photos, so I have to catch him off guard....
He made the front wall of the bank and attached the steps to it using wood for stability and cardboard for the bendy bits. Under the steps will be an arch shaped doorway...
Then he covered everything in Art Mache so that it blends in with the walls of the Bookstore and Maysage.
Then he toddled off to work..... and I interfered and painted it!! hee hee
He did approve when he got home ! :) LOL

ReplyDeleteI'm liking!!! :o) I've never used Art mache before, does it behave the same as paper clay or paper mache? am thinking (hoping) that this may solve my 'problems' and enable me to finish a few projects that I have got stuck with not being able to get hold of peperclay in the volumes I need. I have lots of experience with the swearing bit LOL x

ReplyDeleteWe have argued over the roof many a time!! He wants real tiles, I say we can't afford them! We have just about agreed on wooden shingles now but only if I handpaint each one in differing colours to age and moss them!! I think the roof will have to wait a little longer!

Hubby uses Art Mache all the time because thats all we can get locally. We get a 1kg and it goes a very long way. Art mache is the same as paper mache, I believe.

Hi Michelle, the staircase is looking like it is a part of the building now, but there is a step misiing that hubby needs to put in :) Its on hold now though as he is making a Christmas Ivy Cottage which is taking up all his time, I have to prise him away from it to eat!!

Think it would be good for Emilys interior walls .I can visualise it when all done and youll have so much fun filling it! Kate xxx

ReplyDeleteI say go with the shingle you will be able to paint it al up so well why go to the expense of real tiles that you will age anyway!

ReplyDeleteCan't you make a kind of mould/jig to make rooftiles and then make them yourself? I was thinking of a piece of dowel and drape the cut tiles over it on one side (or something to that effect)?

ReplyDeleteWe thought of making our own tiles because we have made terracotta roof tiles for another smaller project in the past, but we want all the rooves to match, so we would have to make thousands!!! I don't think I have the time or energy LOL
